Record Clearing & Legal Aid Navigation

General navigation support and connections to qualified outside legal organizations.

Overview

Winn-Wright helps eligible participants understand general record-clearing resources and connect with qualified external legal providers.

Winn-Wright does not provide legal advice, determine legal eligibility, represent clients, or guarantee that a record will be cleared.

Who it serves

  • People facing employment or housing barriers related to a criminal record.
  • Winn-Wright residents or case-management participants.
  • People seeking help locating qualified legal assistance.
  • People who meet current program eligibility requirements.

A qualified external attorney or legal-aid organization determines legal eligibility.

What is included

Winn-Wright may directly provide:

  • General information about record-clearing resources.
  • Help identifying documents an outside legal provider may request.
  • Assistance organizing referral information.
  • Connections to qualified legal-aid organizations or attorneys.
  • Follow-up related to the referral process.
Legal advice, case evaluation, filing, court representation, and legal decisions are handled by external qualified legal providers.

How the process works

  1. Submit a request for legal-aid navigation.
  2. Staff gather limited, nonconfidential information about the request.
  3. Winn-Wright identifies an appropriate external legal resource when available.
  4. The participant contacts, or authorizes contact with, the outside provider.
  5. The legal provider determines eligibility, fees, deadlines, and available options.

Important limitations

  • Winn-Wright is not a law firm.
  • Staff cannot provide legal advice or representation.
  • A referral does not create an attorney-client relationship with Winn-Wright.
  • Acceptance and outcomes are controlled by outside providers and courts.
  • Do not submit confidential legal records through a general website form.
  • Court and filing deadlines remain the participant’s responsibility unless an attorney states otherwise.
